As an institution dedicated to supporting and molding its students holistically, Malayan Colleges Laguna’s (MCL) Center for Guidance and Counseling (CGC) sponsored a seminar called “Reaching Out to Students with Diverse Needs” last July 12, 2018.

Especially organized for MCL Senior High School (MCL-SHS) and College faculty members, CGC Head Ms. Mabeth B. Francia said that they mean to inspire them with regards to their role in reaching out to students with special needs.

“This seminar is important because as a support service we should have one common goal with the faculty members in helping every student develop holistically despite their physical and mental conditions,” she shared.

Founder and President of Haven for the Uniquely Gifted and Special (HUGS) Ministries Ms. Daisy Callanta was invited as the resource person, sharing her experience as a parent of a child with Autism. She mentioned how parents like her hope that the educational system would be more accepting and accommodating to students with special needs because hope is alive for them.

“Your effort of understanding could mean a lot and make a difference in the lives of your students,” Ms. Callanta stressed.
