PTC-ACBET awards Full Accreditation to ECE and ME; 2-Year Accreditation to ChE and CpE

The dean and program chairs of the Mapua Institute of Technology at Laguna (MITL) with officials from the Philippine Technological Council-Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET) and administrators and professors from Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL).

As part of its pledge to provide quality education to its students, Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) has reached yet another milestone by having two (2) more of its engineering programs accredited by the Philippine Technological Council-Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET).

During the awarding ceremony held last January 25, 2018, MCL’s Chemical Engineering (ChE) and Computer Engineering (CpE) programs were both granted a 2-year accreditation term for Academic Year (AY) 2018-2019 to 2019-2020.

MCL’s Electronics Engineering (ECE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) programs, which were granted their certificates of accreditation last March 2016, were also awarded re-certification for another period of 4 years (AY 2017-2018 to 2020-2021), which is also tantamount to eventually getting PTC-ACBET’s Full Accreditation certification.

“We are blessed to have this kind of accreditation as this upholds our commitment in providing engineering education that meets quality standards,” Engr. Maribel G. Songsong, MCL Vice President for Academic Affairs, said in her welcome remarks.

She also thanked the people who contributed to this achievement and commended the MITL staff for their dedication, hard work, and patience.

In her message, ACBET Chair Dr. Lydia G. Tansinsin encouraged MCL to continue working hard in order to maintain its accreditations in the future.

Seeing that MCL is now growing in terms of quality assurance, Engr. Dennis H. Tablante, MCL Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, assured that the institution will continue its best efforts to deliver excellent engineering programs in CALABARZON. He even challenged the three (3) remaining engineering programs to attain the same accreditation.

With this recognition, the said programs are now at par with international standards.

All four (4) programs were assessed and evaluated in accordance with PTC-Certification and Accreditation System for Engineering Education (PTC-CASEE) by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ACBET.
