Mapúa MCL Flexible Learning Ubiquitous Experience or “Mapúa MCL FLUX” learning is an instructional approach that combines face-to-face (F2F) and online learning.
Students can participate in three different modes of learning and classroom set-up
Students can engage in class meetings and access learning materials online or in-person, during or after class sessions.
Face-to-Face
Students can participate and join professors in a face-to-face physical classroom.
Synchronous Class
Students can join the class and interact using video conference software through Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and BlackBoard Collaborate.
Asynchronous Class
Students can view the recordings of class on their own schedule and engage with classmates and the instructors via Blackboard Learn.

What is Mapúa MCL Flux?

Why are we using Mapúa MCL Flux?
Mapúa MCL FLUX allows Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (MMCL) to respond flexibly to public health challenges and disruption from natural calamities without sacrificing learning objectives. You will be able to make the same progress toward your degree even if in-campus instruction is interrupted.
Aside from having choices whether to attend learning sessions in-campus or online, other benefits of Mapúa MCL FLUX courses include: more learning opportunities through LMS materials and activities, more control over their pace of learning, more schedule flexibility (when multiple classes are offered Mapúa MCL FLUX courses), and the ability to learn how to learn online without committing to an “only-online” course.

What are the Mapúa MCL Flux Principles?
The Mapúa MCL FLUX course design is built upon these four fundamental values:
• Learner Choice: Provision for meaningful alternative participation modes where students will be able to choose between participation modes daily, weekly, or topically.
• Equivalency: Provision for learning activities in all participation modes which lead to equivalent learning outcomes.
• Reusability: Utilization of artifacts from learning activities in each participation mode as “learning objects” for all students.
• Accessibility: Equipping students with technology skills and equitable access to all participation modes.
Will every class be offered in Mapúa MCL Flux Format?
Yes, every course offered for A.Y. 2023-2024 will be in the Mapúa MCL FLUX format. Courses that require access to specialized equipment or instruments will be modified to fit the Mapúa MCL FLUX format.
Will Mapúa MCL Flux Classes have scheduled meeting times?
Yes. Mapúa MCL FLUX courses will meet at the scheduled times. If you are accessing the course material remotely, you will have synchronous and asynchronous options that allow you to interact with the students who are accessing the course in a different mode. These options will vary by course.
Can I shift from one mode to another?
Yes. Students can decide—for each class or activity—how to participate.
Are summative tests also in Mapúa MCL Flux Mode?
Yes. Summative assessments are also offered on-campus and online.
What technology will be used to deliver Mapúa MCL Flux Courses?
All learning modules and materials can be accessed through MCL Online. Your professor may choose appropriate video conferencing, polling, and collaboration tools to ensure equivalency and accessibility.
What technology do students need to participate in Mapúa MCL Flux Courses?
In most Mapúa MCL FLUX classes students do not have to bring their own computing equipment to classes unless that is clearly explained as a requirement for the session. However, the learning experience will be richer for students attending class in-person to have at least one device that can connect to the synchronous environment.
Mapúa MCL FLUX students participating online would need the same technologies as any other fully online student: a computer with audio (mic) and video (camera) and reliable network access.

How will the learning sessions work with Mapúa MCL FLUX?
Starting SY 2022-23, MMCL will deliver learning sessions in multiple modes to cater to varied learner preferences and ensure learning continuity at any given condition.
All face-to-face learning sessions henceforth will be live-streamed and recorded. There will no longer be any solely face-to-face sessions. We will use the term FLUX, which stands for Flexible Learning Ubiquitous eXperience, to describe this hybrid flexible mode of in classroom, live-streamed, and recorded delivery of learning sessions. The learner will choose whether to participate In the in-classroom (face-to-face), live-stream (synchronous online), or recorded class session (asynchronous online) delivery modes.

What will be the schedule of students who will choose 100% face-to-face classes?
For students who will be choosing the 100% face-to-face (F2F) learning experience for A.Y. 2022 – 2023, F2F classes will be from Tuesday to Friday for MMCL Senior High School students and Tuesday to Saturday for MMCL College students. All Mondays of the week will be reserved for Online Classes for both MMCL-SHS and College.
