Get Jobsfit
The Center for Guidance and Counseling sponsored a seminar entitled “Get Jobsfit: Right Here. Right Now” last November 19, 2011 at the Francisco Balagtas Auditorium. The seminar aimed to equip the students with information that would hopefully orient them about the world of work. Ms. Carina Victoria T. Adanza, Human Resources Management Office Manager of Malayan Colleges Laguna, was invited to facilitate the seminar.
Engr. Raymond B. Monterey, Director of the Office for Student Services gave the opening remarks to welcome the distinguished guest and the participants.
The speaker started her talk by amusing the participants with a hilarious video clip of people at work which eventually brought out some lessons on what they should avoid while at work. She then familiarized the students with some common terms used in employment. She also gave an overview about the recent statistics on key employment generators, emerging industries, in-demand jobs and hard-to-fill jobs for the next five to ten years.
To further equip the students with how they can best prepare themselves now for their career, Ms. Adanza shared some helpful tips in job hunting using internet as medium and on how to avoid illegal recruitment. She also discussed important points in writing resume and how to prepare for a job interview. She even generously shared some of her experiences as a Human Resource Practitioner.
The audience showed enthusiasm as they were given opportunity to express their queries through the open forum. Concluding remarks was given by the Head of the Center for Guidance & Counseling, Ms. Ruth Ann L. Musngi, RGC.
