The closing ceremony for MCL Cup 2010 came right after the Speech Choir competition last Nov. 20, where winners of the ten events were awarded.
Brain Masters, Math Wizard, Spelling Quiz Bee, Science Wizard, Mural Painting, Battle of the Bands, Cheer Dance, Dance, Show Choir, and Speech Choir are the ten events for this year’s Cup. Winners of every event were given medals, trophies, cash prizes and even MCL scholarships.
After awarding the winners of the individual events, Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer Engr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo congratulated the organizing team of MCL Cup 2010 for another successful year. A total of 57 schools participated in the ten events comprised of more than a thousand participants from different parts of the region and NCR. After his brief message, Engr. Maestrecampo fired up the auditorium once again with the announcement of overall winners.
The overall champion of MCL Cup 2010 is the Sisters of Mary (SOM) – Boystown with a whopping 370 points, a margin of nearly 100 points from the 1st runner-up St. Scholastica’s College – Westgrove, which garnered an accumulated score of 275. The Muntinlupa Science High School was awarded 2nd runner-up with a total score of 215.
The 2nd runner-up got a Kodak digital camera worth Php10,000; the first runner-up received an e-netbook plus broadband kit worth Php15,000; while the overall champion SOM – Boystown, bagged a Samsung notebook plus printer worth Php30,000. This is aside from the prominent trophies awarded to each school. SOM – Boystown sang their school hymn as they received the award; their hearts full of pride and gratitude for once again emerging as the overall champion. This is their third MCL Cup overall champion award since 2008.
After the awarding, MCL Cup 2010 overall chair Engr. Maribel Masongsong formally passed on the cup to Associate Dean Mr. Khristian Kikuchi of CIT, as next year’s MCL Cup host college. The MCL Cup 2010 was ended by the singing of the Malayan Hymn and a treat awaited the participants, facilitators and everyone who helped in making the MCL cup a success. Everyone went home happy and completely satisfied.
It is not an overstatement to say that MCL Cup 2010 was indeed a success!
