THE PRESIDENT

The world has changed so much during the last few decades, thanks to science and technology. As the physical world has rapidly shrunk, so has the intangible world of knowledge dramatically expanded. The choices of young men and women of places to work and live in are vast. The choices of knowledge-based careers are just as expansive.

As its main mission the Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) will strive to launch careers successfully. It is the objective of our academic programs that our graduates be able to successfully practice their chosen profession anywhere in the world. As an outcome of our programs we want our fresh graduates to be very globally competitive. This means that they should be armed with technical competencies of international

standards and with other skills, such as being able to communicate effectively and being able to work in multidisciplinary teams. We shall complement this outcomes-based educational approach with a naturally dovetailing system of continuous quality improvement.

We bring to the Malayan Colleges Laguna the tradition of excellence of the Mapua Institute of Technology and the passion for excellence of the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC). Verily, we can say that excellence is in the genes of MCL.

We are very excited to be opening our doors to the sons and daughters of Southern Luzon. We look forward to being able to partner with the various industries in Laguna in mutually beneficial initiatives such as OJT programs, adjunct professorships, collaborative R&D activities, graduate school and so on. We also hope to be able to work with the community in solving problems that are within the limits of our know-how.

We are thrilled to be in a place that is surging forward with its high-tech industries. We are honored to be standing on the very grounds that nurtured the country's national hero. We are determined to build a school that matches Rizal's high regard for the youth and that reaches for the lofty aspirations he had for his countrymen - and a little bit more because, after all, it has been more than, in Rizal's own words, "a century hence".

I hope you will check out the pages of this website and get interested in studying with us. We would be very glad to have you join us in this pioneering endeavor.

  Reynaldo B. Vea, Ph.D.
  President
